Rosanna Gusmano ERA Award for Young Investigators in basic science for Jeroen de Baaij

Jeroen de Baaij has been awarded the Rosanna Gusmano Young Investigator Award for Basic Science of the European Renal Association (ERA). He receives this prestigious award for his work on the discovery of genetic causes of urinary salt and magnesium wasting, and improving the understanding of ion reabsorption in the kidney. Moreover, his teams works on the prevention of vascular calcification in the context of chronic kidney disease.

The award consists of 10,000 euro and will be awarded during the ERA Annual Meeting in May. With more than 19,000 members, the ERA (European Renal Association) is one of the biggest nephrology associations worldwide and one of the most important and prestigious European Medical Associations. ERA supports basic and clinical research in the fields of clinical nephrology, dialysis, renal transplantation and related subjects. Their mission is to reduce the burden of chronic kidney disease that often leads to kidney failure.
